Alidade Nivelatrice (0710)

Index: 0710

Year: End 1800's ?

Maker: Societé des Lunetiers, Paris

Dimensions: 24 x 4 x 2 cm

Info

Alidade on wooden base (assume boxwood). Metal of the legs seems plated (nickel) brass.

In the middle of the base is the spirit level. The base can be set level by using one of the 2 little legs that, when lifted, protrude out of the bottom to heighten the base.

I would presume there has been some kind of slider and an indicator thread on the scale leg.

On the ruler, part shows ruler from 0 to 15 cm with millimeter divisions. Also a logaritmic scale ranging from 1.5 to 100.

The instructions how to use the alidade are printed on the back of the base.

The scale on the vertical leg is from 0 to 40.

This alidade ressembles the alidade from Colonel Goulier, but contrary to the website mentioned below, there is no mention of "Goulier" on the instructions on the bottom.

Inscriptions:

A.B.N° X-13
Ste DES LUNETIERS
Constructeur PARIS
